As a breeder, we have laid the foundation for a well rounded retriever with each litter with selective breeding practices as well as an extensive puppy program that our puppies participate in until they are ready to go at 8 weeks of age. Over the years we have raised many puppies in our home. We have even held back puppies from some litters to evaluate trainability, personality, etc. We have found that people often do not put alot of emphases on early training by letting "puppies be puppies" and often miss the critical socialization period and earliest training period of a puppies life. We have created this 3-8 week program to ease the transition of anyone desiring a puppy with a little more manners and training. Fundamentals are important to us here at TCK. For the hunter, we will help build drive and focus on the natural instincts of a retriever. Puppies will be accustomed to gun shots as well as live/dead training birds. For the non-hunter, we will focus on more behavior and obedience shaping the perfect family companion. We also use skilled handling focusing on the muzzle, paw, and tail in a gentle positive manner to prevent fear and aggression.
